Valentine Tarts
Help your child roll out refrigerator biscuits into 3-inch circles. Spread each one with margarine and strawberry jam. Help your child fold each biscuit over to make a tart. Use a fork to seal the edges together. Bake according to package directions and serve warm with a glass of milk.
Children often bring treats to share with their classmates on Valentine's Day. Try this activity for a new twist. Put some candy hearts in a jar. Have the children guess how many hearts are in the jar. Then count and eat the candies.
Using the heart shape, many, many snacks can be turned into a valentine snack. Use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut grilled cheese sandwiches out or toast and strawberry jam. Make heart shaped pancakes with a metal cookie cutter set in the pan and pour the batter into it to form the shape. Serve red and white items for lunch on Valentine's day.
Cream cheese and strawberry jam rolled up in a tortilla and sliced to make pinwheels are popular in my house. Using you and your child's imagination there is no limit to the "special" treats you can share!
LOVE JUICE
Make love juice by mixing 2 cups of chilled pineapple juice, 10 ounces unsweetened frozen strawberries, 2/3 cup nonfat dry milk granules, and 8 ice cubes in a blender. Blend until ice cubes are crushed. Enjoy!
Melt butter and add red food coloring. After toasting bread cut out a heart with a cookie cutter and brush on red butter.
