December 14, 2007, Newsletter Issue #208: TO MY MOM ON FATHERīS DAY

Tip of the Week

It is not a rarity that children in your care may not have a fatherīs access on a regular basis. Sometimes Fatherīs Day will make the children act out or feel sad because of this. In my daycare we all make gifts for Mom and Dad on their special days. The children without access to their father still make the craft, of course. I have them attach the following poem to their gift. Of course, when this is the case I am sensitive as to the nature of the craft, making it not necessarily masculine, but sentimental, such as a frame or picture.

To my Mom on Fatherīs Day
I know you think thereīs been some mistake.
Youīre not a "Dad", for heavenīs sake!
But youīve been both of them to me,
And I just want to let you see,
That in my own quite special way,
I celebrate you on Fatherīs Day.

If you know of a similar poem for Dadīs on Motherīs day, please submit it to share through this link.
